The Gypsy Cob (also known as the Gypsy Vanner, Romany Cob, Tinker, Irish Tinker) is a medium-sized horse with many of the draught-type characteristics. They have a compact size, but a sturdy build, making a strong horse capable of pulling large loads.
Gypsy Cobs are typically of heights varying from 13 – 15.2hh. They are most commonly coloured black and white in colour, although they are found in a variety of colours. It has massive amounts of silky, straight feather and hair.
The Gypsy Cob
is an intelligent horse, who is highly athletic and has a fantastic temperament. They have been proven performers in many riding and driving disciplines.
It was traditionally used by the Romany Gypsies to pull the families living wagon as they traveled around Europe. The history of the horse is uncertain, as no records were kept as the Gypsy Cob breed was developed over a number of centuries.
